Location
Mykonos, Greece
On the quiet northwest side of Mykonos, the hillside of Fanari rises above the Aegean, far from the island’s busy beaches yet close to everything it’s known for. The name comes from the old Armenistis lighthouse, which has guided sailors along this coast since the late 19th century. From here, Delos Light Villa looks west across the sea to Tinos, Syros and Rhenia, and to the sacred island of Delos, where each evening the sun sinks into the water in a blaze of gold. In Greek mythology, Delos is the birthplace of Apollo, god of light, music and healing, and his twin sister Artemis, goddess of the moon. For centuries, it was one of the most sacred places in the ancient world, and today the whole island is a UNESCO World Heritage site, reached by a short boat ride from Mykonos. Walking among its temples, mosaics and marble lions, guests can feel the same sense of peace that drew pilgrims here thousands of years ago. Mykonos Town, just minutes away, keeps the authentic charm of the Cyclades, with whitewashed lanes, blue doors and bougainvillea, the waterfront houses of Little Venice, and the famous windmills on the hill above. Inland, the traditional village of Ano Mera and its 16th-century Panagia Tourliani monastery show the island’s quieter, more rural side. Along the coast, beaches such as Psarou and Paraga offer clear water and fresh seafood by the sea. Mykonos’s wellness comes from its light, its sea and its wind. The bright Cycladic sun lifts the spirit, the clear Aegean invites daily swims, and the cooling summer breeze, known as the meltemi, keeps the air fresh even on the warmest days. Mornings can begin with yoga facing the sea, followed by long, slow lunches of local cheeses, honey, wild herbs, olive oil and fish caught that morning. As evening falls and the sky turns gold over Delos, the island reveals its most soulful side: a place of light, calm and renewal.
